3 Things Guests Do That Ruin Weddings (Filipino Edition)

The three most common ways wedding guests ruin someone’s big day are: proposing at the couple’s wedding without permission, wearing white when it wasn’t requested, and making the event about themselves; whether through an off-topic speech, a surprise pregnancy announcement, or family drama.

And if you’re newly engaged, kailangan mong malaman ang mga ‘to, so your own guests don’t do them to YOU. Stay with me, at sabay-sabay tayong mainis.

I cover all three in the video above; panoorin mo after reading.

Why It’s Rude to Propose at Someone Else’s Wedding

Proposing at someone else’s wedding is considered rude because it steals the spotlight from the couple whose day it is; the ones who spent months, sometimes years, and a serious amount of money planning that exact moment for themselves. A wedding is the couple’s once-in-a-lifetime celebration, not an open stage for someone else’s milestone.

I know, it feels romantic, love is in the air, everyone’s emotional. Perfect timing, ‘di ba? Hard no, sis.

Yung couple na ikakasal, they spent months, minsan years, planning their dream wedding. Hindi biro ang ginastos nila just to create that one special moment. Tapos bigla kang eeksena, luluhod, and you pull everyone’s attention away from the couple.

That simple, and short moment, marami na palang naaapektuhan behind the scenes.

Why You Shouldn’t Wear White as a Wedding Guest

Wearing white as a wedding guest is considered a fashion faux pas because white is traditionally reserved for the bride; she’s the only person meant to stand out in white on her wedding day. Kaya unless the invitation specifically says otherwise, best to leave the white at home, sis.

Kahit gaano kaganda ang damit mo o walang malisya ang intensyon mo, wearing white to a wedding attracts attention, at hindi mo naman gustong maging usap-usapan for the wrong reason, ‘di ba?

Why You Shouldn’t Make the Event About You

So please:

  • Wag kang mag-gender reveal.
  • Ninong Mayor, huwag kang mangampanya.

As a rule, oo, iwasan magsuot ng kulay puti lalo na white long dress, unless the invitation specifically says “white attire encouraged.”

Hindi, unless the couple gave clear permission. Stealing the spotlight on someone else’s once-in-a-lifetime day is a no, plan your own special moment somewhere else.

No surprise proposals, no wearing white uninvited, no unrelated speeches, no pregnancy or gender reveals, and no family drama. The day is about the couple, not the guests.

Set clear expectations sa invitation (attire, program), brief your entourage and host, and keep your program tight so there’s little room for “main character” moments. A prepared couple is a protected couple.
