Wedding Entourage List for Filipino Church Wedding (Read Here!)
For every newly-engaged couples, writing down the names for your wedding entourage list is one of the most exciting things to do! It’s like a dream coming to life, imagine your wedding plans unfolding right in front of you.
But here’s the tricky part, couples do not have an idea about the wedding entourage list.
Like, how many pairs of bridesmaids and groomsmen should you have?
Are there minimum or maximum numbers for the Principal Sponsors?
Things like this seem small, but for your wedding day, you want to get it right.
Complete Church Wedding Entourage List
Aside from the stars of the big day, also known as the Bride and the Groom, these are all the people you will need.
Principal Sponsors (Ninong/Ninang)
To be able to complete the marriage contract that will be submitted to PSA (Philippine Statistics Authority), you will need a minimum of 2 pairs. The law also considers them as the witnesses of the wedding.
Make sure your Principal Sponsors will make it to your big day to avoid hassles or corrections on your marriage contract.
And since this is a legal document, proxies are not allowed to sign in behalf of the absent Principal Sponsor.
That’s why couples tend to get more Principal Sponsors in case some can’t make it. Avoid burdening your OTD Coordinators to find replacements on the day of your wedding.
Maid of Honor
She is the person closest to the bride-to-be.
She can be a sister, close friend, or relative who will serve as the main supporter of the bride-to-be. From wedding gown fitting, until the bouquet throwing, she has to be there.
Plus, it is the Maid of Honor’s duty to organize the Bridal Shower and to give a speech on the wedding day.
Note: If your closest female friend is already married, you call her Matron of Honor.

Best Man
Just like with the Maid of Honor, the Best Man acts as the main supporter of the groom-to-be. He is the closest and most trusted family member or friend of the groom-to-be.
He should organize the Bachelor’s Party, escort the Maid of Honor, and keep the wedding ring safe!
Bridesmaids
For the Catholic church wedding, you will only need 3 bridesmaids: Candle, Veil, and Cord. Though lots of brides-to-be get more bridesmaids because they have a big family or lots of friends.
During wedding planning, they should serve as your support system so you will not turn into a bridezilla.
Groomsmen
Since the groomsmen escort the bridesmaids, they should have the same headcount.
These guys serve as the main support system of the groom-to-be to help make wedding planning easier.
Flower Girl
The flower girl paves way for the bride’s entrance by spreading flower petals on the red carpet or blowing bubbles.
Just one flower girl is enough, they do not walk along with the bearers.
Check out with your chosen church for the age requirement first. There are some churches requiring the flower girl/s and bearers to be at least 5 years old.
Ring Bearer
Carries the ring symbol. Make sure you instruct him properly to keep the rings safe.
Bible Bearer
Carries the Bible.
Coin Bearer
Carries the arrhae with coins inside it.

What to do with Ninang’s who won’t be able to attend the wedding? Should I go look for another or I can keep it as it is, but then there won’t be a signature for her name?

Yes, you can keep it as it is. As long as you have enough Principal Sponsors to sign, minimum of 4 persons. Avoid getting a proxy to sign for other’s name. Because having a proxy to sign for the absent ninang would make your marriage certificate falsified.

Can you just entirely skip the kid roles? Cause our plan is to just have the best man have the rings. Pero idk what to do with the other roles (coin and bible bearer). I am not fond of giving kids roles kase sa lahat ng weddings I’ve attended, palaging palya.
Yes, JM. You can totally remove any roles for the kids, this is just optional. This is just traditional here in the Philippines, but it doesn’t mean na you need to do it, too.

Wala kasi akong close masyado na girl friends but I have close male friends. Si groom kumpleto na sa groomsmen niya. I’m planning to have some bridesmen instead. Okay lang ba ‘yun? Paano ang pairing nila bridesmen sa mga groomsmen especially sa aisle?
